Sunday Hikes with the Central Oregon Nordic Club
The Central Oregon Nordic Club has several hikes planned in July and August. Sunday hikes meet at the downtown Dilusso between 9:00 and 9:30 am. Bring water, lunch and other essentials. There are also Wednesday hikes that leave from Jackson's Corner. Call Linda at 382-8023 for more information.

Macroinvertebrate Monitoring on Whychus Creek
Join the Xerces Society and Upper Deschutes Watershed Council in collecting aquatic macroinvertebrate samples from Whychus Creek. Participants will be given a brief introduction to aquatic macroinvertebrates and trained in sampling techniques. Teams will depart to monitoring stations, collect aquatic macroinvertebrate samples between mid-morning to early afternoon, and return the samples at Creekside Park. A true back-country experience: backpacking into a remote camp with Steens mountain as the backdrop. Working from our base-camp we will pull fence for 3 days. Sutton Mountain Restoration Trip with ONDA
Join us for a weekend, restoring habitat on Sutton Mountain WSA, next to the Painted Hills and the lower John Day River. We'll spend time pulling fence on the mountain and planting riparian vegetation along Bridge Creek, an important steelhead trout stream that flanks the West side of Sutton Mountain. Spring Basin is poised to become one of Oregon's newest Wilderness Areas. Come hike out to camp in the highlands on the edge of this Wilderness Study Area and remove obsolete barbed wire fence.
