Central Oregon Trail Alliance
COTA is a volunteer group of trail users, mostly mountain
bikers, who are taking responsibility for the trails we love
and use. Cooperation with other users and land management
agencies(i.e. the Forest Service, BLM, parks) is a high
priority.
Our members spend countless hours maintaining our area's
reknown trails. If the pressures of the growing community in
Central Oregon threaten the open, pristine land we recreate in,
we get involved. After all, let's not let the reason this area
is growing be adversely impacted by that growth. We're here to
stand up for access to trails and work to mediate any
conflicts. We strive to promote environmentally sound use of
our wild lands.
COTA was nominated for a regional trail advocacy award for our efforts with the USFS, and were awarded a Trail Advocacy Outdoor Stewardship Toolkit from IMBA and REI.
