Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory July 2008 Events
Hours: Nature Center Daily 9-5; Observatory Tues thru Sat. 9pm-11pmDaytime Programs
Solar Viewing
Daily, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Using special equipment at the Observatory, view the closest
star to our home planet: the Sun. Warning: Never look at the
sun without proper equipment.
Nature Talk
Daily, 11:30am and 1:00pm
Enjoy a 20 minute talk on a variety of natural history topics.
Check the program board for the daily topic.
Botanical Garden Walk
Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
11:00am – 11:30am
Observe a variety of plants, and explore our botanical
garden with one of our resident naturalists.
Wetlands Walk
Sundays, 10:00am – 11:00am
Join a Naturalist to explore these productive habitats in our
own backyard.
Bird Walk
Tuesdays, 9:00am-10:00am.
Sunriver is home for a variety of birds. Novice to experienced
bird watchers are invited to explore our feathered friends.
Cost $2 per person
Bike Tour to Benham Falls
Saturdays, 9:00am – 2:00pm
Learn about local natural history while biking to Benham Falls
5-7 miles round trip on alevel trail
(no road bikes or training wheels).
Bring water and lunch. Meet at Circle 7.
Minimum group: 3 Maximum group: 12
Cost: $15 adult, $10 child 15 under / Members $13
Evening Programs
Nocturnal Creature Walk
Fridays, 8:00pm – 9:00pm
Come take a walk with a naturalist at dusk to
explore the nocturnal world of Sunriver’s
wildlife. Minimum group size: 5. Maximum group:
25
Cost: $3 adults, $2 children ages
2-12.
Observatory Program
Tuesdays – Sundays, 9:00pm – 11:00pm
Check out early evening planets and stars before
enjoying a multi-media presentation at 9:30pm.
Afterwards, return to darker skies and view the
universe through the Observatory’s telescopes and enjoy
a constellation tour of the night sky.
Cost: $6 adults, $4 children ages 2-12
Star–Be-Cue Sat., July 12 7:30pm-11:00pm
Join us for catered BBQ of hamburgers and hot dogs followed by
a special presentation on
constellations and night sky viewing.
Cost: $12 Adult, $8 child (ages 2-12)

Mystery of the High Cascades
Saturday , July 5 7:15pm-8:30pm
Learn about volcanoes, animals and wildfires of
our area from a U.S. Forest Service Ranger.
