Fossil Record and Climate Change today: John Day Fossil Beds. National Monument, hosted by Oregon Paleo Lands Institute

Visit the major units of the John Day Fossil Beds, as you review changes in climate through time, along with Oregon’s geologic past. The trip begins at 8AM November 15 at the High Desert Museum, Bend., and returns at 5 PM on the 16th.

Tour the lab with scientists, to learn exactly how ancient climates are deciphered, and what it means for the future. Collect some 45-million-years old tropical leaves to take home as a keep-sake, and explore the much older terranes and their fossils of the dinosaur age. Includes two 5-mile hikes across open country. Overnight in Dayville.
