Eco-Healthy Childcare: Helping Create Environments for Kids that are Safe and Eco-Healthy

The Oregon Environmental Council invites you to learn how to improve the environmental health of your childcare business and become certified as “Eco-healthy.”

Every day children are exposed to chemicals that can significantly affect their health.  Simple steps can be taken to reduce your children’s exposure.  

Topics covered:
•    Major environmental health issues affecting young children
•    What makes children uniquely vulnerable to environmental hazards
•    Preventative actions to reduce environmental health risks
•    Resources are available to support and assist childcare facilities
•    Self-Evaluation of your facility and the opportunity to develop an action plan.

Eco Healthy Childcare ensures that childcare settings are as environmentally healthy as possible. Childcare facilities can qualify as “Eco-Healthy” by completing a checklist  that highlights 25 simple steps that ensure a safe place for children. Eco-Healthy childcares commit to reducing a child's exposure to toxics and other environmental health hazards.
