An earned symbol system has been created for Member Listings with The Green Spot to show consumers their sustainability efforts. We will continue using our initial criteria for qualifying businesses for representation in The Green Spot.  In addition, we've developed some areas of general criteria. Businesses that have met at least a specific number of criteria in the categories of Energy – Renewable/Efficiency, Water Conservation, Transportation, 3rd Party Certification, Waste Reduction, Community, and Toxics Reduction will receive the corresponding symbol.  This will allow consumers the opportunity to patronize the greenest of the green.  Look for the Earned Symbols in the upcoming 5th edition of The Green Spot Print Directory, publishing in April, 2009
