Paleo Lands Institute
The Oregon Paleo Lands Institute is a new, educational non-profit in Fossil, Oregon, dedicated to connecting the public with Oregon's natural and geologic history. OPLI's mission is to help northwest residents and visitors of all ages to explore, understand, and enjoy the world-renowned natural history of north central Oregon, the ancient and living landscapes of Oregon’s last 400 million years, and the full fossil record of earth’s last 50 million years.
OPLI is developing education-based tourism in rural Wheeler Country, Oregon as part of regional economic development. They are focused on helping this region of Oregon achieve a sustainable future.
OPLI offers art, writing, and photographic workshops, guided hikes and bike trips, family activities, float trips, and custom itineraries across Oregon, with emphasis on the geologic and natural history of the John Day Basin. They also work with schools and school groups, provide specialized trips and classroom assistance for schools.
